This is just the intro I want to learn, it's Minority by Green Day.
Yes, I like some of Green Day's music. But mainly just the older tunes.

What I'm having trouble with i think is changing chords. It's the fingering that I'm not sure of, especially because G has alternate fingerings.

I can play the C fine but then I go to G and screw up.

Green day does have some good music, "Time of your life" is a good song. Takes me back to high school.

As for your question, not sure what you mean. The tab or the video?

It is a good song, they have some others that are good too, both lyrically and musically, in my opinion.

What I mean is how can I learn to play that tab correctly at full speed? The video is there to sho what it sounds like.

EDIT: I'm starting to KIND OF get the hang of it, though it's still really sloppy.

The first part just looks like you could use the basic chord shapes for each chord and play each note individually, almost like an arpeggio.

And Green Day is ok, I have some of their older albums. I kind of think that their cut-off line for when they started to get worse was when they started to wear eye-liner. :-/

That's what I do, I do a C, then a G with alternate fingering ( i will tab it underneath) then a normal F

I like everything up til American Idiot pretty much (with the exception of a couple songs) but their Foxboro hot Tubs band is quite different.

Chord:

|---------------------------|
|-----------------3---------|
|---------------------------|
|---------------------------|
|--------2------------------|
|-3-------------------------|
Ring Middle Pinky

It's basically a G/Alternate Fingering but you move the pinky down a string.

That's easy travis picking!

Thumb takes care of your lower 3 bass strings, index on the G, middle on the B, and ring on the high E

Then just learn to control each of your fingers individually and you're set.

I misread your post i think. I think you're using a standard pick:

Just get the gap picking down, and you're fine. Plus, green day is known to be a little more sloppy on the guitar, so just get it somewhere close, and it will sound fine.

And what is this alternate fingering you are talking about? I don't understand why you aren't going to just follow the tab? It's a standard C G F C progression

I suck at finger picking, but I could give it a shot.
And sloppy guitar sometimes adds to it, it sounds cool sometimes.

Well you can play a G two ways:

Normal
|-3-|---------------3----------
|-0-|--------------------------
|-0-|--------------------------
|-0-|--------------------------
|-2-|--------2-----------------
|-3-|--3-----------------------
Middle First Ring

Alternate
|-3-|------------------3------
|-0-|-------------------------
|-0-|-------------------------
|-0-|-------------------------
|-2-|---------2---------------
|-3-|--3----------------------
Ring Middle Pinky

It's the same chord, it's just that you use different figners to play it, it sounds the same but looks different.
So basically what I'm doing is playing a G with alternate fingering, but I move the pinky down one string (to the B string) to play tjhis.

but you're never playing the B in the G chord.

You are playing G, G (octave), D, D(octave), G

The B is nonexistant... unless you are talking about the strumming... Then nevermind.
