Me and my friend are making a band,

Name: the Curbstompers
Genre: Post-Grunge/Hard Rock with some Punk & Metal elements.
First album cover:

I know the album doesn't match the band name, but this is gonna be an EP. The first Full Length will be VERY related to the band name :P

I took the picture and edited it myself, just this evening.

So what do ya'll think?

Th band name should be smaller, but in the same place. The album name should be moved down a little, or moved to the center (thus causing you to inadvertently stare at the sun).

Nope, we're just a normal grunge/hard rock influenced band.

But it makes sense since it's the sky/clouds and a sun... do you like it though? ... Honestly

honestly...no

I'll tell you why...if you saw this cd on the counter at a music store what would you think? if you were to guess the type of music what would it be?

It's not that I don't like the cover i just don't think it fits the music. Use a negative effect and it would be kick ass.

There was this used CD shop i used stop by every pay day and drop $30 or so and could pick up 5 CD's or so. I always had one "shot in the dark" which was a band you have not herd of and I picked out soley based on the cover. I discovered some sweet new music that way and got some crap too.

I bet i would not have picked your disc had it been sitting out even though I like hardrock/grunge music and might really enjoy the CD.

I think that about sums up why I say no.

Tele, you for being honest with your opinion =]

I will see what else I can do with the photo to make it look more like, grungy and less "Jesusy" too

After taking a good long look at the cover I see that it doesn't match the music, etc. But if I give it another edit, maybe it will look a bit more awesome..

It looks good, but wouldn't it be better to concentrate on the music rather than the album art!?

Yes, bhs, I am concentrating more on the music, but lately I just wanted to see what I can do with my creative side for artworks.

I just bought a new pedal today, a Digitech Grunge, and I must say, I effing love it!

I have some music on YouTube, it all sucks, but here you go anyway:

I will be adding some more videos soon I`m sure of it.

Not really. Seems like a negative, or maybe an overlay effect. Maybe some sort of Pencil effect, and maybe a little contrast.

I liked GB's image with the orange, red, black and purple. The contrast was kick ass and mysterious. I think keeping the title as staring at the sun could still work.

speaking of albums/CD's...

I have about 15 songs or so I was going to work on recording but my problem is they are not finished. The thing is they were a mix of acoustic (coutnrish) southern rock and grunge.

I thought about putting them on one disc and calling it "Organic and Chemicly Enhanced" and having the cover be a computer motherboard with plants growing out of the sockets and slots.

I'm trying to get the songs finished before recording or anything else.

Tele,
That album cover would probably look pretty sick,
You'll have to try and find someone to draw the artwork, if you can't.

If I could draw really well, I'd be making my own artwork, but I can't draw for shit.

You just gotta mess around til you find what looks right, when doing anything with editing photos/art/etc.
