Page was an awesome guitarist but Hendrix was a pioneer. There wasn't to many bands with Jimi Hendrix style back then so he kinda changed the face of music in that time, and set the ground work for guitarist like page.
Having said that I don't think you can say any guitarist is the greatest because the greatest to me might not be the greatest to someone else. To me the greatest was Garry Rossington and Allen Collins because they are the ones that influenced me the most. |

neither of the two are the best guitarists ever, in my opinion. there's no way of saying who is, as les paul said the best guitarist to you might not be to someone else and its down to who influences you or who you like listening to.
to me probably paul gilbert or yngwie malmsteen. |

I personally like Noel Gallagher, B.B King, and Keb Mo more than Page or Hendrix. |
