Fair comment regarding evolution EMB. Because we opt for test tube babies and assisted survival etc.(that is, keeping babies alive that would normally have miscarried had nature had its way), we're becoming weaker as a species.Sadly, all other creatures that should be doing fine through natural selection are endangered due to human economic activity. Aren't we wonderful!

ye, if we followed natural selection many diseases wouldnt be around, any 1 with aids, flu, trisomal 21, autism, retardation, or even near or fr sightness would be elimitnated, they wouldnt find food, and die before they could reproduce, in hundereds and thousands of years like this, we qwould have eliminated many of the things wer trying to fight, but its immoral to us and to religion, yet it isnt immoral to kill others, and species.

I was brought up a Christian and I used to go to Church with my parents, but as I grew older, things just didn't seem to make sense logically so I stopped going and now I would describe myself as an atheist, although I don't really like getting in discussions about religion because as EMB5490 pointed out, religion causes conflict.

Guitarslinger124 says:
The only Gods that exists are the Gods in each of us...they're called morals.

Very true.

That what causes conflicts is always result of conservative thinking "I am right, I know how the things are" and so on.

But, every conversation have possibilites to get some inspiration to lyrics and song ideas ^_~

I agree. I hate when people try to do that.

@EMB,
You're right, without religion there would be less wars because people judge and hate based on religion... And money.

And I really like this thread it's really interesting.

oh here comes a heated discussion, war always brings out the assertive side in everyone. personally i believe war to be useless, doesnt get anyone anywhere and just gives rich countries an excuse to spend money lol. Although some cases are acceptable such as WW2 due to the saving of many peoples lives in the long run. theres my 2 cents what do other people think

My opinion on war is that it's stupid. Violence and death and killinh doesn't solve anything.

As JCB said, saving people's lifes, that's different. Other than that it is not necessary. People should stop juding based on religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, and how rich they are. That's what makes war happen, imo.

I disagree with you EMB5490. I don't think you can really make much of any argument that there would be fewer wars without religion. Certainly most wars get divided into religious groups and various other factions, but when it comes down to it, it's just one group of people dominating another group of people. If we didn't have religion, we'd find some other way to seperate ourself from people we did't like so we could justify killing millions of them.

I also don't think that believing in religion indicates feebleness in human character. I think religions like Christianity, Muslim, and similar Supreme-entity-oriented faiths came about because science hadn't caught up with philosophy at the time. Naturally, people needed a way to explain the world and the events taking place, and philosophy and religion filled that niche neatly at the time.

Other religions, such as Bhuddism emphacized more the Philosophy side, rather than supreme-entity aspect. I think of them more as a school of thought like confucism or taoism.

Nowadays, I'd say the less fundamental, conservative branches of Christianity etc. have moved more towards the school of thought realm, with more of an acceptance towards science, and more emphasis on morality and leading a christian life.

That's not to say that you're immoral if you're not part of some religion. I'm just saying that generally worldwide religions have become that way because they contribute a set of ideas that is easy for millions of billions of people to accept as "Good". That's why cults like Scientology stay out of the mainstream.

Damn, I'm a sucker for long posts.

EDIT: Whoops, I didn't see the second page. This is in response to your a couple of your posts on the first page.

Somebody mentioned natural selection. That reminds me of a nifty idea called the "Eugenics Movement". Basically, only the most intelligent, sensible, healthy people reproduce. Of course this kind of smacks of the whole "Aryan Race", and also there would probably be a lot of inbreeding.

hitle wanted an aryan race. blue eyes blonde hair...

the crusaades? for a long time the muslims, jews and christians faught over the "holy land" also how bout the revolutionary war, its more indirect. some settlers moved the america for freedom of religion, ne thing the king wanted was every 1 to be christian if im not mistaken, although one king did form his own thing b.c his wifes kept having girls, hed behead them, when the churd said it was wrong he made his own religion thing, is this correct? i remember some 1 telling me somtihing like this.

also not all musilims, but if u read a part of the kaaran of i think its called that, it says to kill all non muslims. most dont belive in that, but as always there are radicals.

That's not what I'm saying though. It's obvious there there are wars over religion, but if we didn't have religion, we'd find some other reason to kill everybody. Religion is just such a small factor in the whole mess, that having it or not having it doesn't really change the aggregate. With the important stuff out of the way, people would just start fighting over dumb stuff. As long as people are different, somebody will think they are better for some reason, or that the other group(s) need to be more like him.

And yeah, you're correct. That's how we got the Anglican church.

thts the only nesecary war, world war 2. others were pointless, well acctually not true, the revolutionary war wasnt totally nessecary, but it kinda was, they wanted freedom, and the civil war also, tht was defiantly nesecary. the splitting of the north and south would have been bad, and slavery and racsim is definatly not right.

go back to WWI

We joined the war whooped ass and gave germany a bill to pay for the bombs we droped on them.

The printed money to pay us of.

the economy in Germany suffered huge inflation to the point it cost a wheelbarrow of money to buy and sandwich.

Hitler rode this wave to power becuase the people were desperate and hitler promised them things.

You could say it was our fault.

well...indirectly, very indirectly but yes, and ww1 was pointless, b/c the driver turned the wrong corner and the duke was shot... i mean those 2 countries were going to go to war, it was just what would set it off, and since we were allies we joined.

I think you'll find that wars start out of economic necessity. The most recent ones are about oil, WW1 was about steel production (Germany was kicking Englands ass) The second was about Germany being unable to afford to pay the bill for WW1 etc. etc.........

Damn and blast. You've got me started now!

God is an entity, a Spirit.

When you feel that Spirit (The Holy Spirit/Ghost), it's almost unexplainable. I remember not being able to hold any of my emotions inside, and like there was something that was talking for me in another language.

It's the most amazing thing I've ever felt.

BTW: After I experienced it, I kinda looked odd seeing as I literally couldn't stop smiling.

It probably all started when a human who was more enlightened and less superstitious than the rest decided he could make everyone else do what he wanted them to by using fear of the unknown as a motivator ie. enlightened guy notices that lightening nearly always strikes the top of a particular hill each time an electrical storm occurs therefore by 'predicting' its occurrence, he makes himself look like a prophet. Everyone knows the 'old time' prophets were treated with utmost respect.
Move that on a pace or two further and if said prophet tells the masses he's had 'messages' from some 'God' in his dreams, frightened people are going to hang on every word he says.
It's a power thing!

i actually have quite a different opinion here. granted the most recent wars are about oil, hence why america and britain ride into iraw on the white horse but leave mugabe and his supposed "democracy" in zimbabwe. if zimbabwe had oil fields im sure a "coalition" would have kicked him out years ago.

but back to the point, i dont think economic issues caused world war 1. i think it was actually started by a web of treaties and alliances which dragged most of europe into the war. pretty much the triple entente (britain france russia) and triple alliance (germany austria-hungary italy) basically all agreed that if one of their nations got attacked theyd all join and help. there were other treaties as well involving serbia etc so when franz was killed the whole of europe was declaring war on each other.

sorry for the wall of text lol.

ok back on topic. i hate these threads immensely

come on now...we all know the world was populated by aliens..lol

if you seriously think about how infinate the universe is and believe
that we,the human race on earth are the only living beings you are
high on crack. guitarslinger is dead on by saying religion is a scam.

my favorite line from the bible. God helps those who help themselves.
what a sham....lmao...so if you help yourself to a college education,
honestly apply yourself daily to maintian a 4.0 average and graduate
with honors it's because of god ? or the six figure income you earn
after college is because of god and not the hard work & effort you
put into it to get there ?

it's nothing more than a brain washing scam. which is why there are
so many different religions and not just one.

Yes you're quite right about the treaties bringing everyone into a (world) war, but there had been increasing friction building up over many years between Britain and Germany due to Germany's growing ability to 'undercut' Britain's traditional foreign customers re. the supply of steel.

The assassination of Arch duke Ferdinand was just the touch paper that blew the powder keg.

I think the next war will be started by Gibson & Fender when the big suppliers of maple, rosewood and swamp ash shove the price any higher
