You like metal, so your opinion is not valid here.

Anyone else?

It's a little bit limited. It just uses the notes of an A minor chord. If you used some notes from outside the A minor scale, the 2nd, 4th, 6th or 7th, then it would make it more interesting.

I suppose I could do something with that. I can't help but feel that I've heard the riff somewhere, though?

I like blues. I also like metal... does that mean my opinion isn't valid?

Ha... so my opinion means that tiny bit less because I have a broader taste in music.

If you consider metal to be music, sure.

I don't know if I'd really call that blues, but it certainly has the potential to be. The octaves seem to kind of overwhelm the riff. I would probably use Am, Dm, and E7 (which kind of reminds me of the tune played throughout Stranger Than Fiction). So for blues it'd go: Am - Am - Dm - Am - E7 - Dm - Am. When I say E7 I mean this one:

E|-4-|
b|-3-|
g|-4-|
d|-2-|
a|---|
e|---|

Instead of this one:

E|-0-|
b|-0-|
g|-1-|
d|-0-|
a|-2-|
e|-0-|

Both sound good, just the former is what reminded me of Stranger Than Fiction.

How do I try to be British? Forgive me for naming my band The American-Brit's because that's the music that influences me.

If you have a problem with that, then fine. But don't call me a wannabe, you cunt.

Well, calling yourself The American-Brits does imply that you are either half American, half British, or you want to be.

And don't go calling Pusher a c*nt, because Brits don't use language like that in everyday conversation.

The "Brit's" aspect comes from our major influences of the British music (The Beatles, Oasis, etc.). The "American" aspect comes from our major influences of the American music (Bob Dylan, Josh Radin, etc.). It has nothing to do with wanting to be British.

Also, I couldn't give a shit if Brit's don't use language like that in everyday conversation. I'll say what the fuck I want, and if someone doesn't like it, they can fuck off.

Maybe he thought you try to be British since you sometimes use words like bullocks or bloody?

I'm not saying that you are trying to act British, but I figured that could be where he is coming from.

No, me and my buddy's say it as an inside joke (involves a comedy bit of Eddie Izzard's).

Plus, it's more socially acceptable to say "bollocks" down here than it is to say "bullshit".

nice to see we're all getting along happily.

as far as im concerned everyone has an equal opinion and its pretty dangerous moral territory if someone's opinion is no longer valid because of what they think/ like.

In a way Skold is right. He was asking for some constructive criticism, so if you are biased against a specific genre, your comments are probably not going to be at all helpful.

Skold pull your fucking head out your fucking ass! You don't own this place, you by far arn't the most knowlageble, talented or decent person on this site. Hell if I was a new person I'd GTFO just reading your fucking posts, your more stuck up then a fucking rich child.

Now look what you made me do, get angry agh! Fuck!

Anyway, that riff dosen't sound at all like blues to me it's more like:
boom-pah-pah-boom-pah-pah-boom-pah-pah
then a funky fucking ending

The most imagitive part is probably the ending, the first bit isn't at all hard to think off, hell I started playing stuff like that in my first month (Yay for acoustic finger picking!)

Now stop trying to play the fucking trombone on guitar and grow up you annoying little prick.

--Sorry about this, i'm excessivly angry -.-

It's just a cool little riff. Stop acting like I said it put Slash's solos to shame.

And stop acting like you've got your taint-hairs got in a twist, and fucking relax.

Thank's foo =D

Skold, if you were me right now, you'd understand hahaa...I've just put a hole in my fucking wall...with my head..oo blood.

anyway, okay I went a bit...to far dosen't change my opinion 99% of the time you act like you got a fucking broom shoved up your ass, I don't care if you have or haven't, your just a small time prick wanting to act big on 'teh interwebz!'

Oh and you said it by going 'Wargh!' at almost everypost by someone who has other intrests to blues music.

Improvments, hmm...I'd says maybe break the pom-bah-bom-pah rhythm up a bit, I can't really say how, experiment switiching to diffrent strings, and maybe between the 2/3/4th frets. The end of it is, quite nice, maybe extend it some I did this, not much but meh:

E|------------------------------------2-3---------|
B|----------------1-----------------3----3--------|
G|--2--2-2--1-1--2-2-2/4-5~--5p3/2~-------2-5-----|
D|------------------2-------------------------3/2-|
A|-0----0----0------------------------------------|
E|------------------------------------------------|

Not really much, I'm very poor at lead style riffs .-. Hell I ain't afraid to admit it, that sucks^ but...just an example of what I think it needs.

Maybe leaving was a bad thing? hahaah!..fuck I need to find a job .-. I have no focus anymore.

Anyway, work on the riff man, it as potential..but it seems like your trying be a brass player with a guitar..

i do think the riff is incomplete and does have a bit of a delta blues mood is that what your going for? It seems like a good start.

Alright, here's the riff with an extra little something added: http://media.putfile.com/Blues-Down-Your-Throat

In a play of words off of Metallica, I'm calling the riff "Blues Down Your Throat!".

Here's to us pricks!

EDIT: Nut, I don't think that was the wisest decision, man. I mean, without that diploma, you're pretty well fucked (at least here, anyways).

wtf did i miss something?

so nut left school. Well since you already left here is some advice. Being a high school dropout myself, get your GED take some classes at community collage find out what you want to be when you grow up and pursue it that way. I'm not so sure the the redbull thing is working out for you. I work with computer and make just under 50k a year which is a decent income for a drop out but i also have a collage degree.

Otherwise, don't be a fool, stay in school.
