Ok, I overheard a group of 5 girls talking about the Reading Festival the other day. "It's gonna be shit", one of them said. "It's an indie festival and there's only one indie band headlining".

What bullsh*t!! Reading? An indie festival!? I don't think those girls would know the true meaning of indie if it hit them in the face! Reading, in my opinion, isn't as metal-based as the Download Festival, but it still has a large amount of hard rock and metal history. Kurt Cobain, for example, (not that those girls would have any idea of who he is) was wheeled onstage in a wheelchair in 1992, in his last ever UK performance, and one of his most famous. I do admit, in recent years Reading has become more indie-based, but aaah, some people make me so angry.

Ignorance, my friend.
It seems like as the years go by, people become more & more ignorant.
They listen to only mainstream because their friends listen to it, they choose MCR over Pink Floyd... It pisses me off too

No, Reading is the name of a city in England, and it hosts the Reading Festival every year. Didn't you read the first post?! Basically our version of Woodstock or Coachella.

It seems to me that Reading isn't really defined as one genre. Anyway, whoever said it would suck with Rage Against Machine on the bill fails at life.

Yeah, they probably hadn't heard of Rage either! It's definately not just "an indie festival", that's for sure!

erm, Nirvana was an indie band(or at least it was heavily influenced by indie rock and post punk bands), so I'm not sure whether Kurt would be the best example for proving your point.:P But apart from that...my m8s and I have been attending Reading festival since 1999(damn I'm old :( ) and I'll have to agree it has always been a multi genre festival.Even during teh last few, "indie" revival, years. So I guess those gals should get their facts straight.:P

Yeah, I'm going to say a lot of people into less heavy genres would still enjoy a bit of Nirvana.

MCR is a shitty emo band.
They only appeal to teenage girls because they think the lead singer is "hawt"
It stands for My Chemical Romance

Musically, they're actually quite good... and to me the singer is good, technically. I don't jump on bangwagons though with this sort of thing.
