Ten years from now where will you be musically? Will you be playing for your own pleasure, in a band, playing professionally, will you have hung up your guitar for career and family.........?????
Which may be the same as asking why you first decided to learn to play.
Is it harder than you thought it would be or easier? Will you persist?

In a mildly successful rock band, owning a recording studio, giving guitar lessons in the week and working at a rock club on the weekends.

what ive always wanted, a family somewhere in a quaint quiet little town with a middle class family, middle class job, living on a lake, working by day, fishing by night, not a care in the world. i picture myself as a guitar player who plays for his own pleasure, i dont mind being in a band, dont expect anything to come of it tho, and would rather nothing to come of it.

I would like to think that I will be in a band that plays semi local gigs at bars and clubs. Also something I have put some thought into, I would like to play on an outside stage.

Same as i am now. I'm a bedroom guitar player who hates playing live but like to play and try and create. I hope i would have learned to master sweep pick and maybe some other more advanced skills.

if i do get in a band i think i would rather sing than play guitar, gives me more freedom to be crazy on live shows =)

then probly do some neoclassical, instrumental stuff on the side

My dream is to be in a big-time rock band, hopefully revitalizing the genre--Or maybe even pioneering a new one. If this happens before I graduate from university I would like to return to studying and attain a degree, then become a rocker/philanthropist a la Bono.

Realistically, I'll attend one of Iowa's public universities (Iowa State or the U of Iowa) majoring in, possibly, chemical engineering, nuclear physics, or linguistics. Maybe become a bit of a Renaissance-man.

Edit-And continue playing small venues solo or with a band :)

I'll prolly be living in a shabby apartment with a couple of friends, gettin' buzzed on cold beer and then goin' downtown for a gig in the next bar down the lane, cigarette in my mouth the whole time.

GB: you might be being sarcastic about slingers future - but that to me looks more fun than getting a nice house, and becoming just another average guy. Infact, I reckon I'll be like that myself for a while.

I wouldn't mind having that lifestyle that GS spoke of. Shit, Cigarettes & Alcohol, working at a guitar shop, and chillin with friends at night while listening to some fucking class tunes.

I wanna be a healthier person, I'm gonna stay away from smoking and drugs. I might drink though when I am older.

Hopefully, My band will go pro, but if that happened I don't expect us to be a "Big Name" Band, just something where people know us and we get a decent crowd a concerts.

Yeah, I really want that level of success DarkRiff. I want to be able to tour and have people at all the shows... but I don't care if I'm in a band that sells shows out or plays massive gigs.

I'd like to play Wembley stadium, so I might HAVE to be a big name. Of course, playing clubs/mid-sized venues is fine too.

Yeah there are loads of rich alcoholics.
I honestly wouldn't be in it for the money, I would just be doing it cause I love to do it. Though I would hope to make a little bit of money off it. I don't wanna be like today's artists and be all mainstream and posers.

I wanna be John Lennon, and Liam Gallagher.

Essentially, I have 3 reasons (the major ones anyway) for choosing music as my career

A: Music is all I'm really good at
B: I love music with a passion
C: I want that feeling of being on stage, hundreds, thousands, maybe even millions, of people watching me and absolutely loving the music. The solo pumps out of the speakers, and for those few seconds, I'm immortal
D: I'm not really seen as anyone. I'm unimportant, and I can be replaced. But, if my music gets out there to the people, then I might actually be worth something.

Basically, music gives me a meaning.

I just want to write a few songs that people will absolutely wish they wrote. Kind of like Knocking on Heavens Door! I wish I wrote that song.

I generally don't wish I had written any certain song. I usually wish I could have experienced the song.

I agree, Id love to write some song that touches peoples' hearts

Realistically, though, Im probly going to be working for some job, have a nice wife, and be playing for pleasure in some small town

I dont intend to form a band or tour, but if anyone I meet along the way offers me a spot in a band, I might consider it
