Since Oasis first arrived on the scene, many have often argued over what Genre the band were. Many say Britpop, and many say Rock. But, what do YOU think they are?

Personally, I think they sound nothing like the Britpop bands. I say Rock.

I put "definitely maybe" because they, and many other groups, could fit into more than one category. Not every band can be classified in a clear cut way because they have a lot of influences from different genres that they mix and match into their music.

Lol, you say they sound nothing like a musical movement they helped popularize. Britpop bands have a lot of rock influence as standard... so I don't really know how to answer this poll.

each album has a different sound to it.

like heathen chemistry sounds absolutely nothing like be here now for example.

but based on the first two albums, which in my opinion were the best, i'd say rock.

but britpop was more a phrase coined by the media.

supergrass and oasis dont have much in common in my opinon.

@JOE

I know, eh? It just amazes me how the media (and many fans) can't tell the difference between something like "Maybe I will never be all the things I wanna be. Now is not the time to cry, nows the time to find out why. I think you're the same as me. We see things they'll never see. You and I are gonna live forever." and something like "GIRLS WHO ARE BOYS WHO LIKE BOYS TO BE GIRLS WHO DO BOYS LIKE THEY'RE GIRLS WHO DO GIRLS LIKE THEY'RE BOYS! ZOMG!". Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.

Haha, I think Skold has earned the title of most close-minded person on these forums by now. You should know not all brit pop lyrics are like that, and not all Oasis lyrics are like that.

I'm calling them indie rock and roll that fell into britpop (wrongly or rightly, it doesn't matter).

britpop is just a label for a couple of bands, it's still rock they just use that to talk about a certain time in music and the bands that were in it.
