Anyone like NOFX? I think they have surprisingly good songs for their low tech guitar playing. I heard a solo from one of their guitar players and it was good but I cant find any of their songs with solos on the web.

It's pronounched as No Effects, that was kind of the point of the name when they first came out. I like their 90's stuff the best. Punk in Drublic was an amazing album.

They're an influential American punk band. At first they may be hard to get into because of the vocals... but the songwriting is really catchy and they write about a lot of interesting beliefs and ideas.

War On Errorism wasn't a bad album, but it wasn't the best. I liked some of the songs off of that. 13 Stitches was good.

I don't listen to punk that much either but it influenced thrash so Im pretty interested. Some punk bands are not even worthy of their fame though.

True what Doz said. Too many crappy musicians are actually being listened to. Some are not even worthy of being called musicians. Who do you guys dislike the most as a musician?

Damn it, it's late. I missed out another word last time.

My first post should have been "some bands aren't worthy of their fame", just me stating the fact that it's not just some punk bands that have undeserved attention. You get crap metal bands, crap indie bands etc.

Yes I understood that. What time do you usually post? I live in California so it must be a huge time difference yet I see you post soon after I do.

Ahh, it's because I don't really have a routine for sleeping. I just wake and sleep whenever, therefore I wind up posting at a lot of different times.

lol i always go 2 bed like 11 so i wake around 9 or so maybe l8r, unless i go party, then i go 2 bed l8 like round 2 or 3 even. (party as in bar mitzvahs, parties, concerts, or w/e) im starting to bike now, like in groups, they leave at 8 or 9, so on weekends i cant go 2 bed l8 and expect to have energy for biking.

Id say they are punk but the songs are popish. Anyways, not my favorites but they have respectable music.

They're a punk band, often very pop punk.

The only musicians I can think of that aren't worthy of their fame, are the musicians of these Emo/Scene bands.

I don't know, there are some good, respectable 'emo' bands. It really depends what bands you're talking about. The more modern pop-punk emo bands like Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance (both of which have strong vocalists and good songwriting) or 90s post-hardcore/emo which is quite respectable music in my opinion.

Besides, they aren't the scene bands anymore. In England, at least.

scene bands?

Bands that are hugely popular at the current time, as part of a trend. It's also largely accompanied by fashion and attitude, so you get a lot of posers and a bunch of 14-19 year olds (around about) that have no integrity. Sometimes there are untalented bands who use this to gain recognition and to promote themselves.

However, a lot of the music that keeps coming in with these scene kids isn't always bad (I like a lot of it myself, because I can appreciate it and listen to it for what it is). Also, I don't know that people who get into the music at the same time it becomes scene should automatically get judged because they might have just discovered a music they really like. It's the people that will stop listening to all of their old music, and then stop listening to the music they listen to now when the scene changes that ruin it for me (and there's quite a few from where I live).

Some scene bands get decent but it's usually theree first album and after that it's all comerciall crap, I.E. My Chem their first album was pretty good but since then it's just become that anyone who wants to be noticed in a school can start listening to their music and slicing their wrists and boom everyone knows who the emo kid in class is

I beg to differ... I think MCRs second album is very good, and skilled songwriting. It might be more commercial sounding but it is definitely an understandable progression from the first album.

Their third album... well, it's skilled and catchy... but it's trying a bit too hard.

You need to ask yourself one question though. Why?

Do you hate everything 'with a passion' if it doesn't fit your specifications? Can't you just dislike it and get on with your own thing?

I don't want to start an arguement, just to bring it to your attention... but lately, your critisism has been really pointless and empty, without anything interesting/conversational/constructive brought to the forums.

To be honest, I don't think it's possible to justify hating a band with a passion, as you claim. And even it if was possible, people shouldnt because it's musicians playing music they want to play. As for FOB - they're good enough musicians to play the pop punk/rock music they play and are tight enough at playing it. Their vocals are in tune, distinctive and powerful and the song writing is catchy. Even if you don't like it, does that really warrent hating it enough to call them 'Fag Out Boy' on music forums?

Closed-mindedness is the bane of conversation, conversation being the reasons that forums exist.

The point is that the music is over done, over glorified, and is NOT worth the CD's it comes out on. Also, when crap like that sells like a cure for AIDS, and great artists like Brad Sucks are unknown, it pisses me off.

And still, you haven't provided any real critisism, just talking about how it pisses you off.
